Physical Description:

Fallow deer adult bucks are 55” to 63” long, 33” to 37” in shoulder height, and typically 130 to 220 lbs in weight; does are 51” to 59” long, 30” to 33” in shoulder height, and 65 to 110 lbs in weight. Fallow deer have 3 color phases, White, Chocolate, and Spotted.



Reproduction:

Females give birth to a single calf per breeding season.
Gestation period last 245 days (8.5 months).



Native Range Land:

Fallow deer are historically naitive to Turkey and possibly the Italian Peninsula, Balkan Peninsula, and the Island of Rhodes in Europe. Prehistorically native to and introduced to a larger portion of Europe, it has also been introduced to other regions in the world.

European fallow deer have been introduced in parts of the United States. A small feral population exists on one barrier island in Georgia. Fallow deer have also been introduced in Texas, along with many other exotic deer species, where they are often hunted on large game ranches.
