Physical Description:

The Sitatunga is a medium-sized antelope. It is sexually dimorphic, with males considerably larger than females. The head-and-body length is typically between 55” to 70” in males and 40” to 58” in females. Males reach approximately 32” to 46” at the shoulder, while females reach 28” to 35”. Males typically weigh 168 to 262 lbs, while females weigh 55 to 125 lbs. Only the males possess horns; these are spiral in shape, have one or two twists and are 18” to 36” long.



Reproduction:

Females give birth to 1 calf per breeding season.
Gestation period last 240 days (8 months).



Native Range Land:

The Sitatunga is native to Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guine, Bissau, Kenya, Mozambique, Nambibia, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
