Physical Description:

 In general, they attain a height of 40” to 62” at the shoulder and weigh typically 220 to 770 lbs. Head and body length varies from 5ft to 8ft. The antlers are typically up to 40” long in fully adult individuals. As with most deer, only the males have antlers.



Reproduction:

Females give birth to 1 fawn per breeding season.
Gestation period last 240 days (8 months).



Native Range Land:

The Sambar is distributed in much of South Asia as far north as the south-facing slopes of the Himalayas in Nepal, Bhutan and India, in mainland Southeast Asia and Burma, Thailand, Indochina, the Maylay Peninsula, Indonesia (Sumatra and Borneo), Taiwan, and South China, including Hainan
