Physical Description:

This is one of the largest species of antelope. Kudu bulls weigh 420 to 600 lbs, and stand up to 5’ tall at the shoulder. The ears of the Greater Kudu are large and round. Cows weigh 260 to 460 lbs and stand 4ft tall at the shoulder; they are hornless, without a beard or nose markings. The head-and-body length is 6ft to 8ft. The bulls also have beards running along their throats, and large horns with two and a half twists, which, measures around the curls, average length of 50”, with the record being 75 2/8”.



Reproduction:

Females give birth to 1 calf per breeding season.
Gestation period last 240 days (8 months).



Native Range Land:

The range of the Greater Kudu extends from the East in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Eritrea and Kenya into the South where they are found in Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Other regions where Greater Kudu are located are Central African Republic, Chad, the Congo, Djibouti, Eswatini, Malwi, Mozambique and Uganda.
